There is a new energy on High Street in Mansfield, as artist Charles Wilcox opens the doors to his reimagined gallery and retail space, The Art of Adventure, featuring his latest exhibition 'Fields and Streams'.
Formerly operating from his original gallery location, Wilcox has stepped into a lighter, more expansive environment at 110 High Street, one that better reflects both the scale and spirit of his work.
The new space offers increased wall area, improved sightlines, and the flexibility to curate exhibitions in a way that invites visitors to better immerse themselves.
“It’s a much nicer aspect for viewing,” Wilcox explains.
“There’s more room to move, more opportunity to showcase not just finished works but the collection of objects that inspire them like vintage finds, materials, and unique things I've gathered along the way.”
Known for his distinctive driftwood sculptures - many inspired by time spent in Far North Queensland - his work captures the raw, weathered beauty of the Australian landscape.
Each piece carries the imprint of exploration, from coastal tides to inland terrain.
But while the new gallery celebrates his established work, it also marks an exciting expansion into wearable art.
Launching alongside the new space is Charlie Whisky, Wilcox’s debut t-shirt line.
The Charlie Whisky designs translate Wilcox’s visual language into graphic form, offering a more accessible way for collectors and newcomers alike to engage with his work.
Featuring bold imagery and a consistent cut across a range of colours and styles, the line reflects the same rugged, adventurous aesthetic that defines his sculptures and paintings.
Part gallery, part retail space, and part personal archive, it offers visitors a window into both the finished pieces and the stories behind them.
The gallery will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm with additional days and hours to be advised.
