The Jindera Pioneer Museum is gearing up for one its biggest events of the year – The Forgotten Trades Festival, which is being held on Sunday 21 February, 2027.
Held within the beautiful museum grounds, the event draws people from near and far and is a one day celebration of heritage skills, craftsmanship and old world ingenuity.
It invites visitors to step back into the magic of yesteryear and watch long forgotten trades come alive through live demonstrations and hands on displays.
Set within the museum’s two acres of gardens, heritage buildings and outdoor exhibits, the festival showcases a wide range of traditional skills - many of which haven’t been seen in everyday life for decades.
Visitors can expect to see artisans demonstrating trades such as shingle making, felting, blacksmithing, knife craft, shoemaking, calligraphy, stone masonry, butter making, hand shearing, cow milking, harness restoration and furniture construction.
The atmosphere is relaxed, family friendly and deeply nostalgic.
Guests can wander at their own pace, chat with craftspeople, ask questions, and watch techniques that have been passed down through generations.
The festival also offers food stalls, refreshments and live entertainment, making it an easy and enjoyable day out for all ages.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the museum’s broader collection while on site, including its Working Machinery space, heritage shop and pioneer-era buildings - all of which add to the immersive feel of the day.
