Bright Art Gallery will welcome spring with two exhibitions celebrating creativity, connection and conversation: Men with Heart and the gallery’s annual Spring Exhibition.
The Spring Exhibition will feature a diverse collection of work by Alpine artists who are current members of Bright Art Gallery.
This year’s exhibition will include paintings, photographs and three-dimensional pieces, including sculptures, ceramics and glassware.
'Men with Heart' is a powerful multimedia exhibition that has received multiple awards for its impact on the health and wellbeing of men and boys across Australia.
Shot in complete confidentiality over two decades, this documentary exhibition presents a deeply unique body of work in both its intimacy and scope, intended to both challenge and explore what defines healthy masculinity in Australian culture today.
In a time when much of the world’s media is choosing to focus on the darker side of what men are capable of, this project provides a refreshing, welcome and important counterbalance by portraying the open-heartedness, courage, and vulnerability of men coming together to face their issues and work on becoming better men.
Better fathers, brothers, partners and sons.
A commanding curation of printed imagery is accompanied by written stories and poems from the men featured, along with in-depth video interviews with attendees of the Tasmanian Men’s Gathering.
The exhibition features photography by Paul Hoelen and videography by Troy Melville.
Bright Art Gallery will be open five days a week from 10am to 4pm, from 24 September to 2 November.
Opening night will be held on Wednesday 23 September at 7pm, with finger food and beverages served and an opportunity to hear first-hand from the curators of the Men with Heart exhibition.
