Mansfield Zoo provides a hands-on interactive experience with native and exotic animals in a relaxed and scenic wildlife park with sweeping views to Mt Buller, now including a stripey new resident.
Zambezi, a beautiful clearly striped plains zebra, recently came to his forever home at Mansfield Zoo from Darling Downs Zoo in southern Qld.
He is currently paired with two African Ass cross boys, Galaana and Haroo.
Darling Downs Zoo has an active breeding programs in place and Mansfield Zoo are planning for more of Zambezi’s striped family to join him over the coming months.
The zoo is also home to a colony of meerkats as well as marmosets and capuchin monkeys, llamas and alpacas, wombats, water buffalo, antelope and a variety of birds including barking owls.
Enjoy the glorious outlook as you meander the grounds alongside cheeky deer and kangaroo, fall in love with the mischievous monkeys and be in awe of the four magnificent lions, visitors of all ages can experience the thrill of being up close to these majestic creatures.
Two of their gorgeous lions are white – the only ones in Victoria and two of less than 100 in the world.
If your children (or you) are keen to interact with the animals, why not hand feed the kangaroos, deer and guinea pigs that roam freely about the place.
Beautifully laid out on 35 acres, there’s plenty of space to camp for a night if you’re looking for adventure and something a little different.
The Mansfield Zoo is open daily from 10am to 6pm and is ideal for large family gatherings with undercover areas to picnic and barbecue.
For a truly unique experience stay overnight at the campsite and literally wake up to the sounds of the jungle.
