FLYING among the clouds in the early morning may not seem like a typical Valentine's Day activity but Global Ballooning wants to change that.

The company offers unique ballooning experiences for groups of all sizes in Mansfield, Melbourne and the Yarra Valley, utilising their vast experience to give people a memorable time.

The company was founded by Kiff Saunders in Mansfield before moving down to Melbourne.

The company came back to Mansfield during the COVID–19 pandemic, quickly cementing themselves as an important part of the area's growing economy.

Mr Saunders has a wealth of experience and knowledge, having trained many of the commercial hot air balloon pilots flying in Victoria today as well as competing in three world ballooning championships.

He also has been inducted into the Australian Ballooning Federation Hall of Fame and holds the 'Absolute Australian Altitude Record' for hot air ballooning.

Global Ballooning General Manager Kate Esposto, said the ride is remarkably smooth and unlike any other flight based experience.

"Surprisingly you don't feel much movement," she said.

Ballooning is a year round affair and winter is a particularly popular time in Mansfield, with many passing through and taking advantage of the convenience as they head to Mount Buller.

"People don't associate balloons and cold weather, but the balloons really like the cold weather, as we're able to rise more and there are many opportunities to fly," Ms Esposto said.

"In winter, we can operate afternoon flights which no one really does."

This Valentine's Day, Global Ballooning is hoping locals will take advantage of the deals on offer and experience the Mansfield area from a different angle.

Mandy Ho, the business development manager at Global Ballooning, said that the deal is not limited to the day dedicated to romance.

"People can book the flight on February 14 or they can buy a voucher and redeem it within 12 months," she said.
