Corowa is fast emerging as one of the region’s most engaging artistic destinations, where imagination, craftsmanship and community spirit blend into a rich cultural experience for visitors.
This season, three standout exhibitions invite travellers to explore art in all its forms, from expressive professional works to intricate miniature worlds and an ever‑changing co‑operative gallery that champions local talent.
At Wacky Bird Gallery, the latest exhibition by long‑established artist Christine Upton, titled “Off on Tangents,” offers a refreshing look into the spontaneous side of artistic practice.
Unlike her more structured and thematic series, these works appear in the creative spaces in between.
They are born from moments when ideas swirl without direction, new techniques beckon to be tested, or the simple urge to “play like a child” takes over.
Some pieces explore unfamiliar mediums; others express thoughts that drift far from her usual work yet remain deeply connected to the artistic process.
Together they illustrate the refreshing, recalibrating phase every artist needs before the next major body of work can “hatch” in both mind and heart.
The exhibition runs until the end of June 2026, with free entry and artworks available for immediate purchase.
Just a short stroll away, Lilliputland Miniature World invites visitors into a captivating universe built inside a restored 100‑year‑old furniture store.
The attraction features several enchanting zones, beginning with the Miniatures Zone, where detailed scenes in varying scales showcase a hobby that has grown delightfully out of hand.
Some displays are still evolving, rewarding viewers who love discovering hidden details.
The centrepiece is the N Gauge Model Railway, once exhibited around Australia and now beautifully restored.
Up to 12 locomotives run across intricate landscapes, which can be admired from all angles.
Adding to the charm is Greenleaf County, a 1/12‑scale dollhouse world filled with tiny mansions, villages and quirky characters captured mid‑moment.
An Arts Zone rounds out the experience, offering a colourful collection of original works by local artists.
Open Sundays, 10am–4pm, at 187 Sanger Street.
Rounding out Corowa’s artistic offerings is Gallery 294, a vibrant co‑operative where regional artists and craftspeople present an ever‑changing mix of paintings, sculptures, collages, textiles and wearable art.
With new pieces added regularly and a variety of affordable gift items, the gallery offers something for every taste.
Open Friday to Monday, 10am–4pm.
Together, these three venues highlight Corowa as a must‑visit destination for lovers of creativity, curiosity and community.
