This Easter, Euroa will come alive with colour, ingenuity, and community spirit as the Regional Art Group Euroa (RAGE) hosts the inaugural Recycled Art Exhibition, running 2–8 April.
This bold new event invites visitors to rethink what waste can become, showcasing over 30 artists from across Victoria who have created artworks entirely from discarded materials and transformed through imagination and craftsmanship.
Visitors will see artwork that is different from anything they have seen before.
Beautiful artwork made from items found in an op shop like old dressmaking patterns, lampshade frames, and chip packets.
There will be large metal sculptures that were once car parts or loose nuts and bolts from the workshop floor.
RAGE project coordinator Helen Brook said artists have turned old materials into wonderful shapes and objects that are balanced perfectly with their materials and their environment.
"Visitors will view artwork made by artists who have unleashed their imagination and created extraordinary items that all champion sustainability, ingenuity and resourcefulness," she said.
Held at five locations including Sheila’s Gallery on Binney Street, Euroa’s parks and public spaces, RAGE presents a diverse collection of sculptures and mixed media works.
Expect striking forms crafted from scrap metal, salvaged steel, soft plastics, bubble wrap, and even beach-found debris, each piece shining a spotlight on the environmental impact of everyday waste while celebrating its potential for renewal.
Ms Brook said Euroa and the Strathbogie shire has a reputation as a strong environmentally aware community and a very supportive artistic community, with numerous arts groups and action groups within the shire.
"This event will bring many from those different groups together," she said.
"All recycled artists are environmentally aware and feel it’s the right time to have an event celebrating what they do.
"The organisers are very excited about all the artists that are exhibiting in the exhibition and willing to come to Euroa to celebrate the event."
This event is supported by the Shire of Strathbogie, The Rotary Club of Euroa as well as the Euroa Chamber of Business and Commerce.
Adding to the excitement, a $3000 prize will be awarded to the artist who best transforms reclaimed materials into a work unrecognisable from its original form.
With free entry across all locations and a townwide creative atmosphere, RAGE invites locals and visitors alike to Reinvigorate. Recycle. and imagine.
