Olive oil at its best at Rich Glen

YARRAWONGA'S Rich Glen Olive Estate's Extra Virgin Olive Oil harvest is now well underway and the quality of their premium '2023 Early Harvest' is 'simply stunning' reports Rich Glen's, MD, Daimien Vodusek.

A slightly longer and warmer development period has seen Rich Glen's much anticipated 2023 olive harvest producing an exceptional cold–pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) with the highly prized polyphenols or biophenols saturating this premium oil.

"Olives, pressed within six hours of harvesting, produce our premium EVOO, that the olive industry fondly refers to as the first or 'early harvest', and is prized for its powerful antioxidants," Damien explained.

Recent research indicates these antioxidants help to protect the body against oxidative stress and inflammation and these same polyphenols, also give the EVOO its characteristic peppery flavour along with its intense and highly prized fresh green–grass aroma.

In her recent presentation on the Science of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, accredited dietician and member of Australia's EVOO Olive Wellness Institute Expert Library Jacqui Plozza said, "fresh, pure, premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil is now known to have a positive impact on health including heart disease, blood pressure, weight, diabetes and other inflammatory diseases.

"This same research indicates that consuming between 20–50mL of EVOO per day is associated with health benefits, especially for heart health (eg; cholesterol and blood pressure health)."

Bottom line, using premium EVOO as your preferred healthy fat, alongside a Mediterranean Diet is an example of nutritional, 'gold standard', ideal for assisting us all to maintain good health.

Rich Glen Olive Oil grow 36,000 olive trees on the Murray River at Yarrawonga, this enables them to produce approximately 200,000 litres of cold pressed extra virgin olive oil annually.

They then use this EVOO as a base for more than 180 products, both food and skincare, with all products made–on–farm from 98% Australian ingredients.

"We are passionate about producing premium products, and where possible, with all–Australian ingredients," Daimien said.

"We love what we do and where we live and we do it all with our family, and with amazing support from our community, near and far."
