Every Easter, Beechworth tells its story the best way it knows how; in the streets, through its people, and in celebration.
From 3–6 April 2026, the Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival returns, transforming this historic town into a living tribute to its heritage, community pride, and enduring resilience.
The festival is inspired by a gold-rush era procession that once wound its way through Beechworth’s streets, led by a horse shod with gleaming golden horseshoes.
It was a moment of bold display and shared celebration—miners marching, communities gathering, and the Chinese community lighting the night sky with spectacular fireworks.
That same spirit of confidence, unity, and spectacle still pulses through the festival today.
This year’s theme of 'Gold, Grit & Pioneers – Beechworth’s Resilience Through Time' invites visitors to step into the stories of the people and cultures who shaped the town—and those who continue to its legacy.
Across four days, Beechworth is alive with local fundraisers, markets, annual easter egg hunt—and our Beechworth Community Churches also open their doors, welcoming visitors with services and events throughout the weekend.
Easter Saturday is when the festival truly comes alive.
Music spills down the main street, colour fills every corner, performers, art displays, demonstrations, fun runs, and Easter traditions ensure there’s always something to stumble upon.
At 2pm, the Grand Parade takes centre stage.
Floats, performers, and community groups move together in a celebration that feels both historic and joyfully alive—a moment of belonging.
The event is proudly supported by Indigo Shire Council, Asylum Ghost Tours, Bendigo Bank, and Ritchies IGA, and numerous local business and community groups who make this beloved festival possible.
