In the centre of Myrtleford, Café Chulo brings together the warm hospitality of Nepal and the fresh flavours of modern Australian café culture.
Run by husband‑and‑wife team Ram Chandra Poudel and Puja Bhandari Poudel, the café has become a beloved stop for locals and visitors seeking food that’s both comforting and adventurous.
Café Chulo’s menu blends Australian favourites with Nepalese dishes inspired by the couple’s heritage.
Ram said the idea for introducing Nepalese options came directly from the community.
“Our regular customers know we are Nepalese, and many of them have visited Nepal and missed the cuisine,” he said.
“So, we thought we could bring a taste of Nepal to Myrtleford.
"No one else in the area is doing a similar thing, so this is filling a gap in the market.
"I would encourage everyone to try our menu—whether you’re familiar with Nepalese food or wanting to experience something new.”
The café is a family affair, with Ram and Puja joined by a sister and sister‑in‑law who help bring the warm, homely atmosphere to life.
Their offerings span Australian and Nepalese breakfasts and lunches, a daily curry, homemade cakes, and locally roasted coffee, making it an ideal stop for both a quick bite and a relaxed meal.
Café Chulo is open Wednesday to Sunday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
