IN Africa, there is something remarkably intoxicating about unwinding in a BOMA after a long day exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara.

The fire is lit, hearty foods are being prepared and shared among family and friends, elaborate stories are told about the day's adventures, all while being surrounded by nothing other than the soothing sounds of the wildlife in the heart of the bush.

Merrijig is not Africa, however, the magnificent High Country that envelopes BOMA is equally as magical.

BOMA is exactly what its name represents – a home, a wooden circular shelter, a gathering place around a fire to share stories and adventures with friends, both old and new, of days spent in the snow, biking the trails, hiking the bush, fishing the rivers, or simply relaxing and enjoying the peaceful echoes of the High Country.

"BOMA is a seasonally inspired restaurant with a focus on real food," said head chef Cody Louis.

"Real food that is prepared and cooked over fire or the grill."

With everything in the kitchen cooked from scratch, the hero of our dishes is the great produce itself.

No static menus or conventionally processed food, rather everchanging concepts outside of the norm.

BOMA is also home to a bar menu both rare and unique.

With both Cody and owner Renée sharing a passion for Tequila and Mezcals, BOMA is proud to hold the biggest selection in the area.

"We're not fine dining, yet not entirely casual either, instead choosing to strike a balance somewhere between the two," Renée said.

With Cody on the fire and restaurant manager Sally leading the team on the front, BOMA is quickly becoming a 'must visit' destination in the area.

BOMA is situated at the base of the mountain on Mt Buller Road.
