A gardener’s delight in Yea

THE Rotary Club of Yea is pleased to be hosting two major garden events in spring that are sure to delight garden lovers everywhere.

The first is the Yea Garden Expo on the weekend of Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September from 9am to 3pm each day.

This is the time of year when interested gardeners are busy preparing their gardens for spring colour.

The Expo provides an opportunity to purchase a host of garden related products at the Yea Saleyards site (Flat Lead Rd) on the Yea–Whittlesea Road two kilometres on the south side of Yea.

The site is flat, sealed and easily accessible for everyone.

Take advantage of the $10 entry fee which includes free parking, a wide range of good and services, and a plentiful supply of food and drinks, much of it homemade.

Almost 70 vendors will be onsite with exhibits ranging from bulbs, seeds, seedlings, flowering plants and trees to garden tools and equipment, garden art and ornaments, compost, fertilisers and more.

The popular speaker program will again be a feature of the event and is an opportunity for visitors to both rest and learn.

Visit www.yeagardenexpo.com.au or Facebook @Yea Garden Expo.

Tickets may be purchased at the gate or pre–book at www.trybooking.com/BZOYD.

Now jump forward to November 5 and 6.

The Yea Open Garden weekend will have seven unique gardens open from 10.00am to 5.00pm each day.

Five large country gardens and two town gardens will be on display and range from old historic properties to recently planted gardens.

These properties demonstrate creative ideas and designs with a varied plant palette offering something for all garden lovers.

In conjunction with the Open Garden weekend the Yea Garden Club will again have its annual plant sale selling hundreds of potted treasures at bargain prices.

A multi–ticket covering all seven gardens over the weekend can be purchased through Try Booking for $40 (a saving of $10) at www.trybooking.com/CAKFD or alternatively at the Yea Wetlands Discover Centre or any of the gardens.

Entry to individual gardens can be paid at the garden gate (cash only please).
