Delatite Arm prepares for busy holidays

GOULBURN–MURRAY Water (GMW) is reminding people to follow the camping rules at the Delatite Arm Reserve during the Easter school holidays.

GMW Storage Services general manager Martina Cusack said campers visiting the reserve should be aware of how busy it could get.

"Delatite Arm Reserve fills up quickly, so ensure you have a back–up plan," she said.

"We want everyone who visits to enjoy themselves and stay safe.

"There are designated camping spots at Delatite Arm, and camping outside of these areas is not permitted, regardless of whether they are full or not."

Ms Cusack also emphasised the importance of keeping the area litter free.

"There are no waste collection services at Delatite Arm Reserve, so people must take out any rubbish they take in," she said.

"Rubbish can end up in the water or on nearby plant life, affecting water quality as well as creating environmental and safety issues."

While the weather gets cooler, campfire safety remains paramount.

People should not light campfires at the Delatite Arm, unless there is a designated or public fireplace.

Campers must also ensure campfires are never left unsupervised, and fires are extinguished with water rather than soil.

One of the most popular camping destinations in Victoria, Delatite Arm Reserve recently reported a 42 per cent increase in visitation last Christmas holidays compared to the same time in 2021.

Staff from Forest Fire Management Victoria and GMW will be onsite to assist visitors and ensure everyone is following the camping, campfire, and rubbish regulations.
