Open daily 10-4pm the Yea Wetlands Discovery Centre is a beautiful place to stop and revive.

The centre serves as the perfect starting point for your adventure.

Here, visitors can experience the all-new interpretive centre, full of engaging interactive displays, including a beautiful audio-visual display that depicts the seasons and water cycles.

Knowledgeable staff are on hand to share insights and answer questions about other local highlights in Murrindindi Shire.

With the arrival of spring, the water levels in the wetlands rise, creating a vibrant habitat for a plethora of birds and animals.

Don’t forget to bring your camera as the gentle sound of bird song fills the air, harmonising with the soft rustle of leaves in the wind, creating a symphony that celebrates the season.

As you walk along the well-maintained trails, you are offered glimpses into the lives of the native wildlife that call this place home.

A keen eye might spot a flash of colour as an Azure Kingfisher dives for fish or hear the soft croak of a Pobblebonk frog hidden along the water’s edge.

The quiet pathways and raised boardwalks winding through the wetlands offer a chance to reflect and connect with nature.

The newly opened Kayigai Trail, immersive walk and sculptures designed by Taungurung artist Sammy Trist, tell the stories of the Taungurung peoples’ enduring connection to Country.

Entry is free however, visitors can support the conservation efforts of local volunteers by purchasing a wetlands guidebook or by making an in-store donation in the centre.

Self-guided tours with Devonshire tea can be arranged for your group (minimum of 10).
