Summer splash in Chiltern

EMERGING from a chilly, wet spring, Chiltern is ready to shine this summer with a great offering of hidden dams, walking trails and epic waterfalls that are ripe for exploring.

Lake Anderson is as central to Chiltern as you can get.

The lake is stocked with rainbow trout every year so bring your fishing gear and set up for the day.

The beautiful shade trees, kids' playground and swimming pool nearby make Lake Anderson a perfect place to centre your visit to Chiltern.

For those looking to stretch their legs, the gorgeous Cyanide Dam is also not to be missed.

With a name recalling Chiltern's mining past, Cyanide Dam is in Chiltern Mt Pilot National Park along the White Box walking track.

Pack a lunch and enjoy it next to the dam at the Honeyeater picnic area before heading off on this grade 2 walk.

The park is packed with birds, wildlife and fascinating fungi – so keep your eyes peeled.

If you like your water with a bit more pace don't miss a stop at Woolshed Falls, also in Chiltern Mt Pilot National Park.

It is one of North East Victoria's premiere waterfalls and it won't disappoint.

Watch from the viewing platform as the water plummets 15 metres over a series of granite ledges or follow the path to get up close and personal with the spray.

Wherever your journey takes you this summer make sure to stop and explore Chiltern.
